The short version
We offer a 14-day refund on every Pro purchase, for any reason. Email support@termyapp.com within 14 days of the charge and we will refund you in full. After 14 days we generally don't refund, with the exceptions noted below.
This policy applies to monthly, yearly, and lifetime Pro purchases bought through termyapp.com. It does not apply to the free tier, there is nothing to refund.
01. The 14-day window
You have 14 days from the moment Stripe charges your card to ask for a refund. No questions asked. We don't ask you to fill out a survey, we don't ask you to "give it another try". You email us, we refund you. Total round-trip is usually less than 24 hours from your side.
The 14 days are calendar days, not business days, and they start the day of the charge. If day 14 falls on a weekend or Polish public holiday, the window extends to the next business day.
- Monthly subscription. The 14 days run from each renewal charge independently. If you forgot to cancel and got charged on month five, you have 14 days from that charge to ask for the refund.
- Yearly subscription. Same logic on each annual renewal.
- Lifetime. The 14 days run from the single purchase. There is no renewal to refund later.
02. Cancellation is not the same as a refund
These are two different things:
- Cancellation stops a subscription from renewing. You keep Pro until the end of the current paid period, then your Pro activations go back to Free. No refund of the in-progress period.
- Refund returns money to your card. If issued, we also revoke the Pro activation on your Macs; Pro features will stop working as soon as our license server marks the refund.
Cancel a subscription from Settings, Subscription, Manage on Stripe's portal. You don't need our involvement for that. A refund, in contrast, has to come from us; email support@termyapp.com.
03. After the 14-day window
We don't refund as a matter of course outside the 14 days, but there are three situations where we do:
- Duplicate or accidental charge. If Stripe charged you twice for the same product, or you bought lifetime while a yearly was still active, write to us; we will refund the duplicate.
- Inability to use Pro due to a Termy bug we cannot fix in reasonable time. If you bought Pro for a specific feature, that feature stops working on a supported macOS version, and we cannot fix it within 30 days of you reporting it, you can request a prorated refund.
- We discontinue Termy. Per Section 14 of the Terms of Service: monthly and yearly subscribers get a prorated refund of unused time; lifetime customers get a discretionary refund based on elapsed time since purchase.
Outside of these three, refunds after 14 days are at our discretion. We've found most people who reach out about "I forgot to cancel months ago" get a refund anyway, write to us, be polite, we'll work it out.
04. How to request a refund
Email support@termyapp.com with:
- the email address Stripe has on file (the one your receipt was sent to)
- the approximate date and amount of the charge
- optionally, what didn't work for you (we read every message; it helps us fix things even if you've already decided to leave)
You do not need to include your license key or your Stripe customer ID. We can look those up from the email address.
A short message is fine. "Please refund my Termy purchase from last Tuesday" is enough.
05. How long it takes
We issue the refund through Stripe within one business day of your email, usually the same day. Once issued, the money returns to your original payment method:
- Cards. Typically 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
- SEPA, iDEAL, Bancontact, similar. Typically 7–14 days.
- Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay). Same as the underlying card or account.
Refunds are made in the original currency at the original amount. Currency conversion losses (if your bank converted EUR/USD to your local currency at purchase and converts back at refund) are not something we can compensate for; that's between you and your bank.
VAT is refunded with the principal. Stripe handles the tax-record adjustment automatically.
06. What happens to your license after a refund
Refunding a Pro purchase means revoking the entitlement that purchase paid for. Practically:
- Within minutes of the refund being issued, our license server marks your activation as refunded.
- The next time Termy checks in (within 24 hours on any active Mac), Pro features stop working.
- Termy keeps running on the free tier; your hosts, keys, snippets, sessions, and other local data stay on your Mac untouched.
If you re-purchase Pro later, your old hosts and configuration are still there waiting; you just paste a fresh license key.
We do not delete your data on refund. We don't have access to it in the first place (see the Privacy Policy).
07. Your statutory rights (EU / EEA / UK consumers)
If you are an individual buying Termy for personal use and reside in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content under EU Directive 2011/83/EU as implemented in Polish law (the Consumer Rights Act, ustawa z dnia 30 maja 2014 r. o prawach konsumenta).
That right is lost the moment delivery of the digital content begins with your explicit consent, where you acknowledge that you lose the right. By downloading Termy and entering your license key, you give that consent. From that moment on, you no longer have a statutory withdrawal right.
You still have the voluntary 14-day refund described above. That is a separate goodwill commitment from Noisefloor and is not affected by the loss of the statutory right.
Independently, you retain your statutory consumer warranty rights (rękojmia) for non-conformity of the product with the contract, under the Polish Civil Code. Defect reports go to support@termyapp.com.
Nothing in this Refund Policy waives or limits any consumer right that cannot be waived under applicable law.
08. Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge with your bank instead of writing to us, Stripe notifies us and we typically lose the dispute fee (currently €15, set by Stripe, not by us) regardless of the outcome.
We don't penalize chargebacks; your bank is a legitimate way to recover funds, but it's slower than a direct refund (banks take 30–90 days), and it leaves a mark on your Stripe customer record that can complicate future purchases.
If you've already started a chargeback and would prefer to resolve it directly, write to us. We will refund you in full immediately; you withdraw the chargeback with your bank. Net result is the same money in your pocket, faster.
09. Fraud and abuse
Refund requests that look fraudulent, for example, a pattern of buy-and-refund across multiple accounts, refund requests for plans that have been heavily used for many months without prior contact, or attempts to keep an activated copy after the refund, may be declined or referred to Stripe for review.
This is rare and not aimed at any honest customer. If you have a legitimate refund request and we ever push back, we'll explain why in plain language and you are welcome to escalate.
10. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy in a material way, we will:
- update the "Last updated" date at the top
- post a notice on termyapp.com/releases
For an existing purchase, the refund policy in effect on the day of the charge applies; we will not retroactively shorten the window on you.
